Dr. Joe has been leading the Chess Club at SLAMS.  Yesterday, the SLAMS chess team DOMINATED at the first tournament of the season, with many using the 4-move “Scholars checkmate” to defeat their opponents in under 1 minute! Zaid J. lost in his first round, but then played a long game and won his second, while Avik K. played a long first game against a Powel player but then dropped his second game.  However, Kai P., Marcel D., Brian E., Charlie C., and Dara S. won not only their first but also their second match, giving each of them a perfect 2-0 record as they head into the next tournament!  Congratulations to these players on a job well done, and looking forward to their next competition in January!
